You and I, my friends, we stand side-by-side. Others, envious of our beautiful bond, seek to divide us. Look, they shriek, that gulf between my wealth and your poverty!
Don’t let them worry you. Turns out we’re on the same ladder, different rungs is all. Up here it’s raining golden eggs, believe me! Stick around and pick my brain on how to climb good. Things they don’t tell you.
Like they give some folk that can’t climb a helping hand. You elbowed out while these raid the nest. Silent majority won’t squeak, they reckon.
They reckoned without me. Your voice.

Divide and conquer. We never learn. (K)
Tired of being told the wrong Us And Them!
The game is played out on a steep slope!
Apt image, Opher, with no change of ends for the second half!
Well written in 100 words. Thanks for a good read Dave and Happy Sunday😀
Glad you liked it, GH, and hope your weekend went well!
You’ve nailed it, Dave. Won’t it be a challenge when we finally get a new narrative to mimic? I sure hope it’s someone who has a sense of humor — keep your fingers crossed for 2020.
Haha, crossing everything, maybe they’ll even like reading! Glad you liked reading this …
Great story Dave. I hope it makes people think, but maybe they’re too busy trying to stay at the top.
Glad you liked it, Debbie, hope so too but not holding my breath!
😊A restful one for me and am grateful for that. Thank you and you have a good one!
🙂
Thought-provoking in 100 words. “The distance between my wealth and your poverty,” the issue of what we are now seeing for sure. And yes, a voice can be a powerful thing, the possibilities to speak. Excellent story!
Cheers, LT, always good to receive such considered appreciation!
Same ladder, different rungs indeed. And if say, a few rungs were to get broken, like through university tuition fees, you just need to push that little bit harder…
Those who get to the top too often break the rungs so that others can’t follow. Tax evasion, for example … bad citizenship!
